Auburn outfielder Anfernee Grier was named SEC Co-Player of the Week on Monday, March 2, after batting .500 (9-18) with three doubles and six runs scored through four games last week.
The sophomore’s hot streak at the plate was a big factor in the Tiger’s 3-1 record and big wins over No. 27 Georgia Tech on Tuesday, Feb. 24, and No. 10 Oklahoma State on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Grier went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and reached base four times against the Yellow Jackets. He had two hits and two RBIs in the win over the Cowboys.
The Phenix City native also extended his hitting streak to career-best 14 games — dating back to last season — Sunday, March 1, against Jacksonville State.
Grier will start his 13th straight game for the Tigers on Tuesday, March 3, against Alabama at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
