Another SEC series started off on a high note for No.8 Auburn softball Friday night.
The Tigers (34-3) picked up the 14-6 win in five innings behind a powerful offensive performance and a solid outing from winning pitcher Lexi Davis.

Davis went all five innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits and six walks.
Auburn got things started quickly with a four-run first inning, but Mizzou answered back with three of their own in the home half.
In the third, Auburn managed only three hits, but turned those hits into five runs on multiple walks and sacrifice fly outs. Mizzou answered yet again, with a three-run, two-out homer to make it 9-6.
Auburn added another run in the fourth before Haley Fagan sured things up for the Tigers in the fifth with her 9th homer of the year, a two-run bomb to left, making it 12-6.
Auburn played two more runs before the inning ended, and Mizzou couldn't manage anything in the bottom half, giving the Tigers the win by mercy rule.
The series continues March 28 at 7:00 p.m.
