Sophomore Keegan Thompson picked up his fifth win of the season as Auburn defeated Mississippi State 4-0 for its second-straight shutout Saturday in Starkville, Mississippi.
Thompson allowed zero runs, one walk and four hits. The right-hander struck out five batters through a season-high eight innings. Justin Camp picked up the save.
Friday and Saturday’s victories were Auburn’s first back-to-back shutouts since 2001 and the first consecutive shutouts over a conference opponent since 1988 against Ole Miss.
Auburn will try to complete the sweep over the Bulldogs Sunday, March 29 at 1:35 p.m. with Dalton Rentz on the mound.
