Women’s swim and dive wraps up NCAA’s

Women’s swimming and diving team wrapped up the NCAA Championships Saturday, March 21, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Auburn’s 200-yard freestyle relay team opened the final sessions of the tournament with a sixth-place overall finish in day one. Valerie Hull recorded the second-best anchor split of the Thursday, March 19, at 21.46.

Jillian Vitarius, Natasha Lloyd, Megan Fonteno and Allyx Purcell earned All-American honors during the second day of competition as they took 16th overall in the 200-medley consolation final.

Six more Auburn swimmers and divers earned All-American honors and the 400-freestyle relay team placed eighth overall on the final day. Purcell, Fonteno, Hull and Merritt concluded the competition with a time of 3:15.49 in the 400-freestyle relay.

The men’s team will compete in the 2015 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, March 26-28.
