Reed sentenced to 15 days

Auburn center Trayvon Reed has been sentenced to 15 days in jail for a second-degree misdemeanor assault charge, which he pled guilty to in December, after being arrested in July following an altercation with a police office in College Park, Maryland.

“Trayvon understands that he must be held accountable for his actions," coach Bruce Pearl said in a statement released Wednesday.

Pearl went on to say he is proud of how Reed is learning from mistakes and taking advantage of the opportunity he’s been given at Auburn.

Reed also issued a statement regarding the sentence.

“I want to thank coach Pearl for standing by me, not only today, but since I decided to come to Auburn,” Reed said. “I am very sorry for my actions last summer. Coach teaches us that we must own up to and learn from our mistakes and I have. I look forward to putting this behind me and returning to school with my coaches, teammates and the rest of the Auburn Family."

Reed’s sentence is scheduled to begin on May 11.
