On Monday, August 3, 2015, the Auburn Police Division arrested Paul D. Rayborn, age 22 from Auburn, on a felony warrant charging him with rape second degree.
At approximately 3:45 a.m. APD responded to a citizen’s report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a closed business in the 500 block of Lee Road 53. Responding officers were given a description of the vehicle and an officer located it and conducted a traffic stop on it in the vicinity. The officer identified the driver as Rayborn and discovered there was a juvenile female occupant in the vehicle with him.
An investigation into the incident by Auburn Police revealed the 22-year-old engaged in sexual intercourse with the juvenile, who was incapable of consenting because of her age. Detectives obtained a warrant on Rayborn charging him with rape second degree (statutory rape) and took him into custody. The juvenile was returned to her parents, and the case remains under investigation by APD and the Chambers County Department of Human Resources.
Rayborn was transported to the Lee County Jail, where his bond was set at $10,000.
