The City Council will vote on extending the halt on multiple-unit development construction and whether to expand it to the whole city of Auburn.

The current moratorium is set to expire Aug. 17, and only covers the University Service district east of South College Street.

The moratorium encompasses apartments, condominiums and any form of multiple-unit housing complex.

During the six-month moratorium, passed by the council Feb. 17, the department of city planning researched apartment growth in the city and presented its findings at a meeting July 27.

The planning department recommended the moratorium be extended and expanded to Auburn's city limits.

This moratorium will not affect developments that have already received a zoning certificate.

If adopted, the moratorium will continue until March 1, 2016.
