Ramsier twins bring "oomph" to Auburn offense

College athletes spend four years familiarizing themselves with their home away from home, mostly building and strengthening a bond with their coaches and teammates. Normally, these athletes make the trek alone, a situation foreign to the Ramsier twins.

Casie and Brooke Ramsier left their home in Dallas, Texas to begin their true freshman season at Auburn in 2013. The identical twins have been inseparable since birth, on and off the field.

"Since we've been three, we've always been on the same team," said Brooke.

The duo has started every game in its past two seasons at Auburn. They recently kicked off their junior season and have yet to miss a start.

Their on-field chemistry is evident and leads the offense in goals scored so far this season. The two have a combined six goals for the Tigers, the most dramatic being Casie's cross to Brooke in a double-overtime win over Long Beach State in the second game of the season. Brooke admittedly feeds off of her sister's energy.

"She brings great movement and great energy up top," Brooke said. "She's the kind of player that you know, even in the 90th minute, will make that run no matter how tired she is. She's always running and always looking for the ball."

Casie said that Brooke is definitely the person you want on your team.

"She's going in hard to tackles, last minute she's winning balls when you need her to," Casie said. "She definitely brings the toughness, that 'oomph' to the midfield that we need in the middle."

The two didn't want to be separated after high school. When it came time to decide on a school, Auburn made the them feel like they were a part of something bigger.

"It's awesome. The Auburn family is so welcoming; as soon as we came here we fit in great, and the girls make it even better," said Casie. "It's truly an Auburn family; we feel so much love during the season when fans are here supporting you."

Fans have a chance to support the Ramsiers and Auburn Soccer once again at the Auburn Soccer Complex on Friday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. when the Tigers take on the Samford Bulldogs.
