Auburn lands 5-star defensive end

Five-star defensive end Marlon Davidson out of Greenville committed to the Auburn Tigers Friday afternoon in a ceremony held at his high school gymnasium.

Davidson, the No. 23 player in the class of 2016, chose the Tigers over Michigan, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Clemson, and instate rival Alabama.

Davidson continues a strong Auburn legacy in his family with his commitment. His brother, Kenneth Carter, played for the Tigers from 2010-13 and is now an assistant coach with the team. Davidson cited his mother, who passed away last winter, as a driving force behind his commitment, as well as the strong relationships he has with the current Auburn coaching staff.

With Davidson's commitment, Auburn's recruiting class is now ranked as the No. 16 class in the nation, up from No. 21, per 247sports.com.
