Music will once again rock the plains as the University Program Council’s annual fall concert kicks off this Friday, Oct. 2.
Matt Wertz is set to open the show at 7 p.m., and Parachute will take the stage shortly after.
“We expect both artists to put on a good, clean show,” said Segar Leva, UPC's director of major entertainment. “That’s the goal.”
The Alumni Association, SGA and UPC collaborated to put together the activities surrounding Plainsfest.
SGA organizes the homecoming parade that takes place at 6 p.m. before the concert.
“Not just the concert, but the whole weekend is important for Homecoming traditions,” Leva said. “It’s fun to go to for students, but also for people in town.”
Plainsfest brought in a crowd of around 3,000 people last year, and this year about 3,500 are expected.
The concert will take place in the Gay Street parking lot. Admission is free to both students and the public.
