The Top 20 candidates for Miss Homecoming were announced on Cater Lawn Tuesday, Sept. 1.
The candidates are: Alex Jay, Marla Ebert, Emily Kennedy, Brianna Basik, Mary Frances Graves, Callie Barganier, Tomi Obebe, Emily Ruggles, Libby Talbert, Sara Bedsole, Taylor Wesley, Ruthie Jager, Lindsey Conry, Allison Childress, Gracie Lennox, Susan Dean, Katie Knell, Grace Shipman, Alana Broe and Mallie Stone.
Caroline Holmes, executive director of elections, said each organization is allowed to nominate one woman for Miss Homecoming. A committee interviews each candidate and picks the Top 20.
"Tonight is just to recognize they've made it through the first round," Holmes said.
The Top 5 candidates will be announced Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Cater Lawn.
The candidates will be allowed a few weeks to prepare their campaigns and the winner will be announced at the homecoming football game on Oct. 3.
