Casie Ramsier lifts No. 8 Auburn past No. 17 Texas A&M

Junior Casie Ramsier scored two goals to help No. 8 Auburn defeat No. 17 Texas A&M, 2-0, at the Auburn Soccer Complex on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, Ramsier scored twice in a span of 12 minutes in the second half, both on assists by Hannah Alspach, lifting Auburn (12-2, 5-2 SEC) to its eighth win in eight home games this season and its second win against a ranked team. It was a much-needed victory for the Tigers after a 2-0 loss to No. 10 South Carolina on Thursday.

“Rebounding today like we did was huge. We needed this,” Ramsier said. “South Carolina was a good team, but we knew we needed to regroup and come out and play today against Texas A&M.”

Ramsier recorded her fourth multi-goal game of the season. Her 10 goals this season are the most for an Auburn player since Sarah Steinmann recorded 12 goals in 2003.

The Tigers’ victory is the first against the Aggies (11-4, 4-3 SEC) since the 2012 SEC Tournament semifinals.
