No. 4 Auburn equestrian team sweeps Alabama in exhibition

The No. 4 Auburn Tigers equestrian team swept in-state rival Alabama 12-0 in a hunt seat only exhibition on Friday, Oct. 2.

“We were pretty much mistake free today," coach Greg Williams said. “We are very happy to get the win. The whole team was in it. Even the Western girls were helping and watching and were 100 percent behind them. With these kind of attitudes and this talent, we are going to win a lot.”

In Equitation over Fences every Tiger was able to beat their Alabama counterpart. The big wins came from two freshmen, Kennedy Kanpic and Hayley Iannotti. Kanpic won in blowout fashion with a score of 80-58. Iannotti won by a score of 85-75 and was named MOP. Ashley Foster’s 90-60 win gave the Tigers another MOP winner on the day, this one in Flat. Junior Tory Hoft and Sophomore Caitlin Creel also picked up wins for the Tigers.

The Tigers' next test is on Oct. 9, when they travel to the second-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks at 1 p.m. CT.
