An Opelika man who fell off his bike on a trail in Chewacla State Park died from his injuries Thursday, Oct. 8.
Bradley, D. Ward, 51, fell while riding his bike in the park. Police responded at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, to assist paramedics, according to Auburn Police Division Capt. Lorenza Dorsey.
Ward was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to East Alabama Medical Center. Later that day, he was transported to UAB Medical Center in Birmingham by a Life Saver helicopter, according to Dorsey.
Ward was pronounced dead at approximately 4:46 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, according to Dorsey.
According to police, the incident appears to be accidental and no foul play is suspected.
The incident is under investigation by the APD and the Lee County Coroner's Office.
