Cam Newton, the former Auburn quarterback who led the Tigers to an undefeated season in 2010, will be on the sidelines Saturday at the Iron Bowl as the honorary coach for Auburn.

Newton is currently in the midst of leading his Carolina Panthers, who drafted him No. 1 overall in 2011, to an 10-0 record and is in the thick of the MVP race. The Panthers will be on bye the week of the Iron Bowl, allowing him to make the trip.

In Newton's only Iron Bowl, he led Auburn back from a 21-0 deficit to win 28-27 in Tuscaloosa and clinch a spot in the SEC Championship Game. He finished the season with a win over Oregon in the BCS National Championship Game, giving Auburn its first title since 1957. He also became Auburn's third Heisman Trophy winner in the process.

Newton graduated from Auburn in the spring after returning to finish his degree.
