A strong doubles start couldn't save the No. 56 Auburn men's tennis team from No. 44 Georgia Tech at Ken Byers Tennis Complex on Friday, Feb. 12.

Marko Krickovic and Edward Nguyen, a nationally ranked No. 60 duo, defeated No. 24 Michael Kay and Casey Kay. The senior and sophomore, respectively, were the only Auburn pair to not find defeat in tiebreakers.

Conner Hertas del Pino and Brandon Laubser fell 7-1 and Max Hinnisdaels and Olle Thestrup gave up the doubles point to Georgia Tech 7-4.

The Yellowjackets held strong throughout the singles competition with straight-set wins on three courts.

No. 84 Krickovic won his first set 7-5 from No. 9 Christopher Eubank, but dropped the point 10-5 in a tiebreaker. The loss was the senior's first singles loss of the spring season.

Hinnisdaels remained undefeated and notched a, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Carlos Benito. Thestrup went into a third set with Nathan Rakitt before falling in the tiebreaker.

Auburn moved to 4-2 on the season while the Yellowjackets advanced to 4-3.

The Tigers will face Clemson (4-4) on the road Sunday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Clemson Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
