For the third-ranked Auburn Tigers, dominance on the mound is becoming a recurring theme. Freshman Makayla Martin limited Boston College to one hit in Auburn's 6-0 win over Boston College on Friday night.
The Tigers took control early, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. A double by Madi Gipson sent Tiffany Howard to home plate, giving the Tigers their first run. Later in the inning, Jade Rhodes hit a two-RBI single to extend Auburn's lead to three runs. Howard then hit an RBI in the second inning to give Auburn a 4-0 lead.
In the sixth inning, Kasey Cooper hit a two-run home run to make Auburn's lead 6-0. It was Cooper's fourth home run of the season, which leads the team.
Auburn ended the game with a 10-1 hitting advantage, thanks to a great performance by Martin, who struck out four Eagles. She was relieved in the final two innings by Rachel Walters and Lexi Davis, both of whom did not allow a hit.
The Tigers (12-1) are a perfect 7-0 at home this season, outscoring opponents 98-11.
