Senators prepare for Up All Night

As the semester comes to a close, SGA senators make preparations to continue the SGA finals week tradition, Up All Night.

Brock Hendon, senator at-large, said the SGA-sponsored event has been organized through initiatives and the Academic Affairs Committee to help Auburn students make it through finals week.

“We’re really trying to get everyone come,” Hendon said. “We’re going to do Sunday night, Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night, so we’re going to be there by 11:45.”

Hendon encouraged senators to sign up for specific Up All Night duties and urged them to help out at least one night.

“It will take about 30 minutes to pass out doughnuts and orange juice,” Hendon said. “It’s going to be really cool, and we hope you all can come.”

Benjamin Arnberg, Graduate School senator, said senators should pay attention to students’ needs during finals week.

“People start to complain about the resources on campus, so don’t disregard them; keep them in mind,” Arnberg said. “It can be as little as, ‘Oh, I wish this computer lab was open so I can finish my project,’ because it wasn’t that long ago that the library wasn’t open 24 hours a day, and senate made that happen.”

Sarah Grace Mitchell, engineering senator, echoed Arnberg and encouraged senators to reach out to stressed students during finals week.

“Just be aware of resources,” Mitchell said. “So if you see someone acting more stressed than normal, just reach out to them and say, ‘Hey, are you okay? Can I talk to you?’ and let them know that there are resources on campus to help them.”

Brandon Honeywell, SGA vice president, also asked senators to reach out to him if they will be in Auburn for the summer so that SGA can help welcome incoming freshman.

“Keep on your radar the SGA pep rallies for Camp War Eagle,” Honeywell said. “We’ll be more than happy to have you guys help out with that … we definitely do need bodies.”
