Dwayne Cox, former head of Auburn University Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives Department, will close the spring 2016 season of the Discover Auburn lecture series with a talk on his new history of Auburn University book titled “The Village on the Plain, Auburn University 1856-2006," according to a campus notice.
"Long overdue for an institutional history, Auburn University possesses a rich and storied past," according to UA Press. "Dwayne Cox’s The Village on the Plain traces the school’s history in authoritative detail from its origins as a private college through its emergence as a complex land-grant university."
The talk will take place at the Ralph Brown Draughon Library on Thursday, May 5 at 3 p.m. in the ground floor auditorium. A reception and book signing will follow. The lecture is open to the public and is sponsored by Auburn University Libraries, the release states.
