Johnson and Solomon named All-Southeast Region

The Golf Coaches Association of America announced Thursday that senior golfer Michael Johnson and freshman Jacob Solomon were named to the PING All-Southeast Region team.

This is not the first time that Johnson, a Birmingham, Alabama native, has been recognized this season. Johnson was a first-team All-SEC selection and was a Ben Hogan Award semifinalist. He also was selected to the United States team for the Arnold Palmer Cup, which will take place in Europe in June at Formby Golf Club in Formby, England.

Johnson won an Auburn record three tournaments this season on his way to breaking the school single-season stroke average record at 70.37. Johnson’s three tournament wins give him a total of five tournament victories during his time on the Plains. He ranked sixth nationally and second in the conference in stroke average this season.

Solomon earned Freshman All-SEC honors, and maintained a 71.91 stroke average throughout the season. Solomon had four top-13 finishes and tied for 18th at the 2016 SEC Championship.
