Man arrested in connection with Gay Street shooting

An Auburn man was arrested today in connection with a Sunday shooting on North Gay Street, police said.

Auburn police, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, arrested Jerrod Moss, 21, on a warrant charging him with attempted murder, police said in a press release today.

After responding to a "shots fired call" at the 800 block of North Gay Street early Sunday morning, police found a 21-year-old woman and 23-year-old man with apparent gunshot wounds, according to the release.

The woman was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center, treated for a single gunshot wound and released, the release said. The man was flown to Columbus Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for several gunshot injuries and remains in critical condition, according to the release.

Shots were fired at several people in one apartment and damaged two more apartments, police said in an earlier release.

An additional arrest is anticipated, the release said, and the case remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division.

Moss was transported to the Lee County Jail with bail set at $75,000.
