Involvement Awards celebrates students and organizations

The campus Involvement Ambassadors hosted the fifth annual Auburn Involvement awards in the Student Center Ballroom.

The event took place on Monday, April 24, six days after it's originally scheduled date as a result of safety concerns surrounding Richard Spencer's arrival last Tuesday.

“The purpose of the event is to recognize all of the student involvement on campus and we think it is a great way to bring everyone together,” said Involvement Awards Director Elise Mann. “[A way] to recognize the people working really hard behind the scenes doing a lot to unify Auburn. We have over 500 organizations on campus but we all don’t always interact all the time so this a great excuse for us to bring everyone together so that everyone can come together and interact.”

Attendees were met with hors d'oeuvres after receiving their table card. Attendees followed the red carpet into the ballroom where they were met with 48 decorated tables filled with flower arrangements and assorted cheesecakes.

“We like for it almost to be an Oscar’s feel,” Mann said. “That’s why we have a red carpet out front. We want it to be a very elegant night.”

The director, accompanied by the Involvement Awards assistant director Judith Hornsby, has been working for the past year to make adjustments and improvements to the events in years past.

Accounting for the work and energy put into the event, Mann accredited many of the other organizations that went into helping put on the event.

“They [Tiger Catering] have been amazing,” Hornsby said on the company’s flexibility to the event’s scheduling change.

“It didn’t change much at all actually. Everything went very smoothly,” Mann said. “It was something obviously unexpected, but it really ended up turning out like how we wanted it. [Tiger Catering] totally provided all of the food that we were originally going to have catered.”
