A spirit that is not afraid

New consignment boutique opens Downtown

Kensley on Trend, a women’s consignment boutique, opened its doors on North College Street this Thursday.

Co-owners Natalie Gilbert and Kelly Pool, who also own and operate Ellie Boutique downtown, hope to provide a similar boutique experience with a wider variety of clothing at a cheaper price.

“It’s the only consignment boutique downtown,” Gilbert said. “What we are excited for is getting name brands to people who can't normally afford or don't want to pay for name brands.”

As it is a consignment store, Kensley on Trend will buy gently used clothing and sell it back second hand for a lower price than retail.

“We take clothing from people cleaning out their closet or getting rid of old clothes, from name brands to non-name brands so that we have a mixture of clothes in the store,” Gilbert said.

Because of Ellie Boutique’s location downtown, Gilbert says the choice to open their new store close by just made sense.

“We work downtown already so it’s convenient for us,” Gilbert said. “College students are down there and it brings in a lot of different people visiting Auburn, so there is a lot of foot traffic and it’s a good location for business.”
