A 13-year-old male was transported by LifeSaver helicopter after a "chain-reaction" collision occurred at 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Shug Jordan Parkway and North College Street, said Capt. Lorenza Dorsey.

Auburn Police and Fire personnel responded to the collision.

The 13-year-old male was transported to Egleston Children Hospital in Atlanta and is currently in ICU listed in unsatisfactory condition. The driver, a 39-year-old female, and the other passenger, a 13-year old male, were transported to the East Alabama Medical Center. They have now been discharged.

A 23-year-old construction worker was transferred to Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus and is currently in ICU listed in critical condition.

Dorsey said the accident involved four vehicles in total after a Ford truck traveling north struck an Oldsmobile stopped at the intersection. There were three individuals in the Oldsmobile, one adult and two minors.

The Ford truck driver was treated at the scene, APD said. The other cars involved after the initial collision were a Jeep and Honda, both stopped at the intersection. Those in the Jeep and Honda were not injured.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the APD.
