Auburn University communications is uniting under one logo — the interlocking AU.
"In an effort to reinforce Auburn's brand identity and to avoid confusion among national and international audiences, the university is moving toward unifying under one logo," said Mike Clardy, assistant vice president for communications and marketing.
Clardy said the interlocking AU will be the official logo for Auburn and its colleges, schools and other branches. The interlocking AU is the most recognizable logo for most parties, Clardy said.
The Samford tower logo may still be seen on existing materials on campus, but all new materials will have the interlocking AU.
"A more consistent visual identity will pave the way to an enhanced image, instant recognition and higher recall among the various audiences whose support we seek," Clardy said.
Clardy said the University hopes the switch to the interlocking AU will strengthen the Auburn brand.
