Stidham, Pettway named to Maxwell Award watch list

A highly touted Auburn backfield is being recognized before the start of the season, as Jarrett Stidham and Kamryn Pettway were added the 2017 Maxwell Award watch list on Monday. The award is given annually to the most outstanding player in college football by the Maxwell Football Club.

Pettway returns this season after leading the conference in rushing yards per game at 122.4. The Tiger tailback was voted first-team All-SEC last season, and is expected to be among the best in the conference this season. The 6 foot, 235 running back was a Doak Walker Award finalist last season.

Stidham, the sophomore transfer quarterback from Baylor, sat out last season, but is expected to start for the Tigers at quarterback this season.

Auburn Head Coach Gus Malzahn will address the media on Thursday in Hoover, AL, at 2017 SEC Media Days.
