Auburn football will host the Southern Conference's Mercer Bears in 2022, announced Monday evening.
The Tigers defeated the Bears last Saturday, 24-10 on Auburn's homecoming. Mercer forced five Tiger turnovers and were in a one-possession ballgame in the fourth quarter.
Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham's historic day helped Auburn to victory, as the sophomore completed 32-of-37 passes for 364 yards. The 32 completions rank second in Auburn history for completions in a single game, and the 86.5 completion percentage ranks second in SEC history for a game with 30 or more completions.
Auburn now has one more non-conference opponent to add to the 2022 schedule, as the Tigers are set to host Penn State on Sept. 17 and Western Kentucky on Sept. 24.
