PREVIEW: homecoming events for this weekend

Auburn University will host several events from Friday, Sept. 15 until Sunday, Sept. 17 sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, the Student Government Association, the Office of Parent and Family Programs, the Office of Alumni Affairs, the Auburn Downtown Merchants and the City of Auburn.

"We look forward to homecoming week every year because it is an opportunity for the entire Auburn Family, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, fans and the community to come together and celebrate the Auburn Spirit." said Lady Cox, assistant vice president for student engagement in the Division of Student Affairs.

Homecoming weekend activities will coincide with the Office of Parent and Family Program's Fall Family Weekend which will include many activities for the visiting families of students.

The annual Miss Homecoming parade will be held on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. in Downtown Auburn. The parade will begin at the corner of Thach and South College and will end by the library on Thach Avenue.

The weekend will also feature Auburn alumna and former NASA astronaut, Jan Davis who will be speaking at 3 p.m. on Sept. 15 for the "This is Auburn Speaker Series." Davis's speech, "An Auburn Astronaut: My Journey into Space" is in conjunction with the Auburn University Libraries' "Discover Auburn Women of Distinction", a lecture series celebrating 125 years of women at Auburn.

On Saturday, the Auburn Alumni Association will host the Auburn Hospitality Tailgate at the Auburn Alumni Center three hours prior to kickoff.

To conclude the weekend, the "Brunch and Browse" will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. This event will feature various eateries and shops in Downtown Auburn.
