According to the advisory released this afternoon, crews have been sanding known trouble areas in town.

The city has advised motorists to stay away from the following areas, which it has deemed impassable, until the icy conditions subside:

  • Interstate 85 from mile marker 47 to mile marker 57
  • North Donahue Drive near Miracle Road
  • Moores Mill Road between East University Drive and Ogletree Road
  • Most of Glenn Avenue, especially in hilly areas
  • North College Street between East University Drive and Highway 280
  • East University Drive between North Dean Road and Mall Boulevard
  • Most of Opelika Road
  • Highway 280 from Farmville Road to North College Street
  • Shelton Mill Road from East University Drive to Highway 280
  • Cox Road between Summit Lane and Sunset Drive
  • South College Street between Woodfield Drive and East Samford Avenue

North of mile marker 51 on Interstate 85 has been blocked off to avoid further accidents, the city said.
