Bria Johnson named to SEC Women's Basketball Community Service Team

Auburn guard Bria Johnson has been named to the conference's Community Service Team, announced by the SEC Wednesday afternoon.

A senior on The Plains, Johnson has served as the University's SAAC Community Service Coordinator, as well as a participant in "Blessings in a Backpack," a project partnered with the Jason Dufner foundation.

Like the rest of the team, Johnson volunteered with the Boykin Day Care Center, in addition to the Our House foundation in Auburn.

To add to her service history, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native has volunteered with the Juvenile Justice Ministry and "Serve Day" with Auburn's Church of the Highlands. Johnson also has a community service project planned for this coming April.

ESPN recognized Johnson back in April of 2017, publishing a story about the senior's passion for poetry. Behind her "Everyone has a voice, and everyone has a story" platform, Johnson led a poetry workshop for middle school students in Tuskegee, Alabama.

"She comes to rock your world, disturb your comfort zone and she has a message that demands to be heard," poet Will James said in the ESPNW piece.

Johnson and the Tigers have two games remaining in the 2018 regular season: a road trip to No. 2 Mississippi State this Thursday and a home date with Ole Miss on Sunday, Feb. 25.
