Acre has another accolade to put on its shelf. Southern Living named the Auburn eatery Alabama's best restaurant and one of the 10 best restaurants in the South in 2018.

"Chef David Bancroft has made Auburn known for something other than football," the magazine reads. "At Acre, he takes inspiration from the garden neighboring the restaurant to create a seasonal, ever-changing menu that is equal parts reverential and playful with Southern ingredients."

Acre was opened in 2013 by Bancroft, an Auburn University alum, and has gained a following since, both locally and nationally.

In December, Bancroft took home the gold on Food Network's “Iron Chef Showdown."

Acre is one of two Alabama restaurants on Southern Living's list, the other being Birmingham's Highlands Bar and Grill.
