Auburn football held an open practice Thursday afternoon, and wide receiver Ryan Davis was absent with flu-like symptoms.
Davis and Eli Stove’s absences -- Stove suffering from a torn ACL -- promoted Will Hastings, who fully participated at practice, to the first-team offense. Hastings, as well as wideout Nate Craig-Myers, joined defensive back Jordyn Peters back to full practice.
Peters practiced in a knee brace to support an apparent knee injury two weeks earlier.
In Stidham’s absence, Malik Willis ran the first-string offense while newcomer Joey Gatewood ran second-string. Stidham spent time during practice observing and discussing with Willis and Gatewood.
While Willis ran the offense, wide receiver Noah Igbinoghene was put out as a first-team cornerback. Head coach Gus Malzahn discussed at the start of spring practice about changing positions.
