4-star CB Jaylin Simpson becomes 5th commit in Auburn's 2019 class

After a weekend visit to The Plains, Jaylin Simpson has made up his mind.

The four-star defensive back out of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, committed to Gus Malzahn and Auburn on Saturday, but made his decision public Monday afternoon.

Simpson becomes the fifth Tiger in Auburn's 2019 class, joining fellow corner Cordale Flott, center Jakai Clark, wide receiver George Pickens and quarterback Bo Nix. His commitment propels Auburn to No. 25 in the 247 Sports class rankings.

The commitment from Simpson, who ranks as the No. 28 athlete in the class (247 Sports), kicks off what could be a big week for Auburn on the recruiting trail. Simpson's high school teammate, 12th-ranked athlete Jashawn Sheffield, is on an Auburn visit this week and considers the Tigers a heavy favorite.

The nation will also hear verbal commitments from five-star linebacker Owen Pappoe (Auburn or Georgia) and four-star offensive tackle Wayna Morris (Auburn or Tennessee) on Tuesday. The two are teammates at Grayson High School with Auburn commit Jakai Clark.
