Man charged with burglary, criminal use of mace

Auburn police arrested Union Springs resident Stanley Bernard Davis Jr., 22, on Wednesday on felony warrants charging him with second-degree burglary and criminal use of the defensive spray, according to a release from the Auburn Police Division.

At around 7 a.m., police received a call reporting a burglary at a home in the 300 block of Lee Road 10. Officers were told the burglar entered the residence and rummaged through a cabinet before being confronted by one of the residents.

According to the resident, the burglar sprayed him with mace and fled. Officers were given a description of the man and located Davis in the vicinity, police said.

No property was taken and no injuries were reported. 

Police said their investigation led to the development of Davis as a suspect. Police arrested Davis, booking him in the Lee County Detention Center at 3:49 p.m. He remains in the county jail on an $8,000 bond.
