Jarrett Stidham will play Saturday.
No, it won't be in the team's traditional A-Day scrimmage. But Auburn's second 3,000-yard passer in program history will play in a 10-minute 7-on-7 at the start of the game, according to Gus Malzahn.
"He's a veteran guy. He's like a coach on the field now," Malzahn said Thursday. "Last year, he was learning Chip. Chip was learning him. Now, he's got a very good grip on our offense."
Stidham had a procedure on his left shoulder in January, and has been limited in practice since. In his absence, sophomore Malik Willis and freshman Joey Gatewood have been taking the reigns on the first and second-team offenses, respectively.
Other than Stidham's inclusion in the opening drill, A-Day will be conducted exactly as it has in years past. There will be no live kick or punt returns, but the team will kick field goals and PATs, so Auburn fans will get a chance to see freshman legacy Anders Carlson live.
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CT in Jordan-Hare Stadium, broadcast on SEC Network.
