For vegetarians in the Deep South, steering away from meat can be a challenging feat. BBQ and fried meat are sacred in Alabama, and Auburn is no exception.
Veggies To Go, though, has a menu that provides a hearty meal for vegetarians within a price range that won’t break the bank. Although Veggies To Go is typically seen as a “meat and three” restaurant, there are also four veggie plate and three veggie plate options.
The menu has a long list of good Southern soul food including fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, green beans and a vast array of other veggies and meatless items. There are two locations in the Auburn area — one on South College Street and one on East Glenn Avenue.
The East Glenn Avenue location is open Monday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m.–8 p.m., and Sunday 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m., The South College Street location is open Monday through Friday 11 a.m.–8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
It’s easy to survive off of pasta and potatoes as a vegetarian, but Veggies To Go serves delicious food that’ll satisfy a craving for home-cooked food within a college-student budget. Veggies To Go is The Plainsman’s choice for the best vegetarian meal in Auburn.
