The Auburn Real Estate Society was granted provisional status  by the SGA Senate last month.

“There is pretty much no real estate program at Auburn at all, so we just wanted to set up a way for students who are interested in doing that to learn  more about it,” said Amanda Smith, a junior in finance and board member of the society.

Since there is no real estate major or minor, the organization has put together a list of courses students could take that would help them in their career in real estate.

The organization was formed to help students who plan to work in real estate by organizing lectures and speakers.

It also hopes to help students network with professionals in the real estate field, said Kelly Steed, president and a junior in marketing.

The group also hopes to hold events throughout the year that will better prepare students for the industry.

The group usually meets on the last Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Lowder Business Building.

The next meeting will be April 28 and will feature a commercial real estate agent.

The group hopes to have approximately  four meetings with speakers each semester and invites anyone with an interest in real estate to attend.

For more information on the society, visit the group’s Facebook group, “Real Estate Society at Auburn.”

Members of the Facebook group will receive notifications about upcoming meetings.

“We just want to help students learn about the career and what we do from all different sides of the business,” Smith said.
