It is a widely known fact that Auburn fans don’t boo, save booing the opposing team as they enter the field or the referees if they make a bad call. By booing our team, you are sending them a message that says you put them on the same level as the other team.
We honestly hope that’s not what you were going for.
Brandon Cox might not being playing at the level that you want him to play at, but he certainly doesn’t deserve the verbal beating he got from Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday.
How would you like it if you received an “F” on a test and your entire class booed you as your professor handed it back to you?
Imagine that multiplied by around 3,280 and that’s what Cox and other players have to deal with every week.
There were recruits at Saturday’s game, so how do you think they felt seeing after seeing what wrath this fan base in capable of? We may have scared away some much-needed help in the form of new blood last week.
Auburn fans are supposed to be of a higher caliber than our neighbors in Tuscaloosa.
Almost every week, we get letters to the editor here from opposing teams’ fans telling us about the wonderful manners and kind attitudes that they observed us exude. So, we can be kind to fans of our opponents, but we’ll boo our own team.
Get some class, Auburn fans.
Live up to the words of Shug Jordan and let it be known that “Auburn fans don’t do that.”

I completely agree with the sentiment of this article, but as a former Plainsman staffer, I have to ask that the online versions be displayed a little more cleanly. Also, I'm sure folks from all over the SEC will be reading this, so could the typos be fixed? Sorry if I sound like a stickler.September 20, 2007 - 11:19am
It's a two way street
It's a two way street buddy. When I take a test, any poor decisions that I make, and poor resulting grade affect me and only me. When Brandon Cox makes his seemingly perpetual poor decisions he affects his fans, his teammates, and many other people around him. I do agree that it may not be best to berate your QB in front of the oppostion, but Brandon Cox is the worst QB Auburn has seen since Daniel Cobb (although not that long ago, arguably two of Auburn's worst), and should be held accountable for his royal mistakes...

Wimpy boo-bird test taker
Mr. Only Me, What have you ever done for Auburn that you have earned the right to boo anyone? Do you practice long hours in the 107 degree heat? Do you work to improve your strength and conditioning even when suffering painful injuries? Do you continue to step out onto the field of play because your coach believes you are the best quarterback Auburn has, even thought ignorant selfish students are booing you? Until you have done something for Auburn besides gracing the school with your presence, you have no right to boo.
