Auburn City Fest, the town’s largest, free outdoor festival, will take place April 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. City Fest will offer activities for citizens of all ages, including a lumberjack show, dogs catching frisbees, medieval reenactments and musical performances.
“We have a variety of activities for children and people of all ages,” said Ali Wilson, public relations specialist for the city of Auburn Parks and Recreation. “We’re anticipating a large crowd with the lumberjack show coming. They will probably be a large draw.”
The International Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show combines entertainment and education, the three-man show will include chopping events, crosscut sawing, axe throwing and chainsaw racing, as well as segments on timber history.
Wilson said some activities may be postponed in the event of rain.
Driscoll will be performing throughout the day under his moniker of StoryMaker using his skills in storytelling, acting and music to entertain the crowd.
Two bands, Martha’s Trouble and Chevy 6, and one solo artist, Dave Potts, will perform.
“Last year we had 40,000 people, so this year we’re expecting more and we need around 200 volunteers to make everything run smoothly throughout the morning and afternoon,” Wilson said. “They can download the application from our Web site and turn it in at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center. “
“This is my fifth year doing it, and every year has surpassed the one before it in terms of attendance and activities, so it’s been really great to get to watch it grow,” Wilson said.
