Victoria’s Secret and Collegiate Licensing Company have fans across the nation tickled pink for their new co-branded merchandise.
The new line, which is currently available online, gives girls a new option for supporting their favorite college team.
“Every year, we encourage fans to buy orange and blue lingerie to support Auburn,” said Candace Benson, Victoria’s Secret-Auburn Manager. “We always sell out, so having a line with the actual Auburn logo will be an extra bonus.”
The authentic logo is distributed through Collegiate Licensing Company, and talks with Victoria’s Secret PINK began in 2007.
“This is the first time someone has partnered to get the real logo,” said Emily Shapoff, Senior Account Executive. “This is very exciting for Victoria’s Secret PINK.”
Thirty-three schools across the nation were chosen “based on their regional appeal and large student and alumni population.”
Along with Auburn, other SEC schools include Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Louisiana State University.
“The Auburn store will carry the Alabama line as well,” Benson said.
Official logos are available for Victoria’s Secret through CLC. These logos represent colleges, universities, bowl games and conferences throughout the country.
“We are really excited about this partnership,” said Scott Bouyack, Vice President of Apparel Merchandising. “We are always looking for new opportunities and avenues to distribute and grow our trademarks.”
The PINK line has a large college-age market, so the new line will already have a consumer base, especially in and around college towns.
“Right now, the plan is for this line to be continuous, and that depends on how everything is accepted,” Shapoff said. “We are also looking to include more schools in the future.”
Since college wear is usually geared toward guys, this will be a great opportunity for girls to have their own style.
“This is a huge opportunity to deliver a women’s collegiate brand,” said Bouyack. “This will be great for CLC and for the University.”
Along with Victoria’s Secret stores, the new collection will be available through other CLC channels. Tote bags will be available in Auburn bookstores, as well.
Victoria’s Secret PINK currently includes panties, bras, sleepwear, totes and bedroom accessories.
The
prices will be around the same as the current PINK collection, ranging
from $24.50 for the Cami and Tote to $118 for the Varsity Sweater
Jacket.
“The collection is definitely affordable for college students,”
Shapoff said. “This is a great way for girls to show school spirit with
a PINK element.”
The Collegiate line will be available July 1 in the Victoria’s Secret sale catalog and in stores, based on proximity to the university.
