Anatomy of  a Boyfriend
By: Daria Snadowsky

“Anatomy of a Boyfriend” is a well-written story of a teen girl’s first love and heart-ache. The story is told by high school senior Dominique, the main character of the story.
The plot takes off when Dominique and her best friend, Amy, attend  the annual seniors versus teachers football game. It’s at the game she meets her first love.
Dominique is living in Fort Meyer, Fla.. and going to a private school when she meets her future boyfriend. She has big plans for medical school after high school.
Dominique is instantaneously hooked when she is rescued by Wesley Gershwin. Their story unwinds as they experience the in’s and out’s of first times.
Dominique and Wesley’s discover that neither has a lot of experience and they explore every first with each other.
Their only problem is when they discover their plans for after high school don’t match up.
It’s the familiar dilemma of different cities and different colleges. So, many students have to decide if the relationship can be long distance or if it’s time to let things go.
Snadowsky makes the story both imaginable and relatable. It’s easy to remember having the exact same conversations as Amy and Dominique.
The book is dedicated appropriately to Judy Blume, author of “Forever,” which was first published about a decade ago. “Forever” was ground breaking for its time and is comparable to Snadowsky’s novel in its honesty and ingenious familiarity.
This is definitely a book for girls. I recommend this book to incoming freshman but most girls will be able to relate to it.
“Anatomy of a Boyfriend” is great for anyone who is looking for a light read or a break from the text books!
