Is this really what The Plainsman has turned into? As a former news editor and writer for The Plainsman I'm floored that you have the nerve to even write, much less run such an ignorant and heartless editorial. I am not sure if this was your opinion alone, or the opinion of E-Board. Either way, it frightens me to see the direction The Plainsman has taken recently (and I'm not just referring to this editorial). I have seen this paper go from award-winning to a joke in the past few years, and you Mr. Guajardo might as well put the last nail in that coffin. Get your rants and your asinine opinions out now, because I doubt a real newspaper will be accepting of such writing. Good luck to you as you and your staff continue to ruin any reputation The Plainsman once had.

I think although it may be a PR thing, the name change may do a great deal more than expected. The vast majority of people do not research what they learn, they simply accept what comes to them. Once it is nationally advertised that the name is changed, especially since the name sounds a great deal less scientific and therefore less intimidating in some people's minds, people will gradually care less if some product they are getting has corn sugar in it or not.

But all in all, well done Annie Faulk, well done indeed.

Google Maps streetview clearly shows two stop signs, one before the tracks and the one before the highway. I wonder if he stopped at the first stop sign?

Given the visibility of at least 1/2 mile or more he would've had plenty of time to see the train coming if he in fact stopped before proceeding onto tracks.

Haha, wow. This is just plain stupid and ignorant. Lindsay, you do realize that the mere sight of a gun in the hands of a law abiding citizen is almost always a more effective defense tool than pepper spray, right? Most of the time when guns are used in self defense, they aren't even fired. Go do some research, learn gun safety, and go handle and shoot some guns. Then maybe you'll realize that guns are not scary (except in the hands of criminals, who don't abide by guns laws anyways).

In your comment on another story, you complain that you haven't heard the voice of the Muslim community, but on this article, which has quotes from the Muslim community pertaining to misrepresentation by a fringe group, you complain about how tiring it is to read stories like this. What gives? It's hard to take your comments seriously when you contradict your previous arguments.

I wish the people at the Plainsman would realize how tiring it is reading stories like this. We get it, we know it, we love it now shut-up and move on. You act like everyone that goes to Auburn, besides you and your friends, are the most backward people on the face of the planet. Well I am here to tell you that we, the student body, are not. Enough with these bleeding-heart stories. WE GET IT! Love thy neighbor and all that stuff. Has it been a really slow news period or do you guys really think that we are that stupid? In fact, the people you are trying to reach probably don't read the hard copy or online edition. Why? Because you aren't relevent. Why? Because of stories like this. Quit being a Debbie Downer.
