Dustin, I would like to add a few thoughts to your article. While I would challenge your explanation for Sodom and Gomorrah's fall (I believe that homosexuality was also a significant factor), that passage is by no means the Bible's only mention of homosexuality. Other passages leave no ambiguity in the Bible's stance on this issue: "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals... will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Religious issues aside, I respect your right to choose what lifestyle you will. Ultimately, that is no one's decision but yours. But please, as you ask for acceptance and respect for homosexuals, do so without distorting the message of the Bible. While you are completely right that a hateful, judgmental attitude is out of line with Christian principles, that doesn't mean that there is no such thing as sin. As a Christian and firm believer in the truth of the Bible, I was saddened to see my faith so misrepresented in the Plainsman.

"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error," (Rom. 1:26-27, NASB).

I think Selena Roberts was very IRRESPONSIBLE in her publishing of this article. First off we don't even know if what she reported was true. It could have been Trooper Taylor or another coach that gave mike McNeil money or maybe no coach at all since he's in jail now. I supported Coach Chizik before and will now even after his departure. Excuse me while I Polish my RING. Wde

Thank you, Plainsman, for posting an almost entirely one sided article. Why was there only one student interviewed regarding their personal reaction, and more emphasis placed on the organizer's thoughts alone?

Auburn must retain and strengthen this flight program! It's a shame to see such a lack of leadership within the COB and from the President's office.

Typical responses from Selena. She's been an attention hound since her own days at the Plainsman in the early 80's. Also very typical of her to take the side of the actual criminal in a criminal case, very much like her "work" on the Duke Lacrosse hoax. Once again, Selena goes about indulging her well-established hatred of male sports with unsupported rumors and innuendo in place of actual facts. More of the same from her. You'd think after being fired by two of the (alleged) top publications in the country of these antics, somebody in the national media would actually start questioning the shattered shreds of her credibility by now. But that would detract from bashing Auburn, so as Emily Litella would have said (look it up, kids), "Never mind!"

Good grief this was a simple beat up the reporter piece with nasty slants to the questions. "How do you feel about blemishing the Auburn name", "Did you approach this to HELP McNeil" the questioner comes across as a provincial don't look for dirt in our beloved football program which gives us reason to go on. She's an investigative reporter not Florence Nightingale come to hold a disgraced student athlete's hand. She can't blemish the Auburn name, it's the people involved in committing the crimes, making illegal payments that blemish the school, not the person who exposes the filth. All I want to know is who was the jackaxx that would hire a deeply flawed Iowa State coach, give him a new contract with huge bucks that are wasted now. Now just who was going to grab Gene'o and take him away

To let you all know where I sit on this, I am not an Auburn fan and believed there was serious funny business going on during the national championship season. That being said, anybody who ever believes a word of what Selena Roberts writes is taking a real chance. I believe that she writes fiction (as was the case in her reporting about the Duke lacrosse case) and makes things up out of whole cloth (as was the case when she attempted to cast herself as somebody who was very skeptical of the case against the Duke lacrosse players). I wouldn't put any credence into anything in the article until a reputable journalist begins to report it.

True. But I bet they had to write it and get it out ASAP.
