Your name calling and elementary reading comprehension show who is more like a third grader here. The editorial never says to replace current board members just because they are white men so you can get over that little pity party you threw yourself. It doesn't even say to hire the one female and zero minorities up for the position right now. It just says that it's kind of ridiculous if you look honestly at the composition of the board. Do you honestly believe that of the thousands of nominees over time it just happened that over 90% of the positions would be filled by white men? That was only because they are the most qualified? Then perhaps there's a deeper issue at hand and we should be questioning why women and minorities are apparently so overwhelmingly unqualified and unprepared for such a job. A pity show? Maybe it's simply raising questions that people like you are too unprepared for handling at this time.

Are you suggesting they replace members already on the board who have fought and earned their place to be there with a woman (or whomever you believe was discredited) just because? I would hate to see that logic applied to everyday situations such as doctors. The essence of this story can be derived as more of a pity show than an actual, factual analysis. Just because several women interviewed for the position does not mean they are qualified. The board should not be measured by its diverseness but by its competence to fulfill its duties. It is certainly more logical for the board to pick the best people for the job than to let everyone win and be happy because we're all still 3rd graders This time it seems more men were qualified, that is all. It's not some conspiracy to have an all male group. Next year maybe more qualified women will interview for the position. There are times to make things equal and there are times to make things fair. This is a question of what is fair to the people who earned their spot on the board no matter how many chromosomes they posses.

Great article! A small note that my last name is spelled "Crane." I'm happy to be part of this scene. Here'a a blog post I wrote on seeing a bunch of these bands all in one night: http://jasoncrane.org/2012/11/17/auburn-diary-one-night-four-bands/ Thanks! Jason Crane http://jasoncrane.org

"death came to all men": not animals. I think the intent of Romans 5:12 is for God's children, humans, not his soulless creations, animals. It is entirely plausible that the entire process of evolution could have occurred before the creation of a spirit-infused Man. Trygve Lund Junior, Chemical Engineering

Obama is not a Socialist. Obama is not a Communist. Obama is a Liberal Democrat, and he actually considered quite a centrist by most political analysts in comparison to other presidents. The Founders of this nation were all liberals. The conservatives of the time period actually wanted the U.S. to remain under England's plow. I saying this to irritate anyone. This is simply historical fact, to put things into perspective. The middle-eastern Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups would not be considered liberal, but they would be considered conservative: they believe in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, and they believe that their religion should be reflected and enforced by law. I am not saying this to irritate anyone. I am not saying this to promote one side over the other. I am saying this to ask you to think about what you believe whatever it is and question why you believe it. If your beliefs are solid they should be rooted in reasoning and logic. No American should ever express hate against another American for who they are or what they believe. That's not why soldiers have given the ultimate sacrifice in the name of an idea that is truly American. We have a responsibility to show each other respect and discuss the issues with true class and logical thought. Better men than you have died defending this privilege.

The whole LSU team is a farce. I think they hired Chizik becaue he agreed to look the other way. Why else would they hire a losing coach from Iowa. What a total joke. That championship is worthless in my eyes. Chizik got paid well for it though. What, 20 million and a book deal. He'll probably write a "tell all" now and make even more. I hope the alumni thought it was worth it.

Tree By Tree We huddled, warm, and dense and fair The night beneath the Toomers air And whence the flames did flicker on Summoned glory of fair Auburn's dawn. As splintered branch from leaf to root Fell downward, scorching, specked in soot An Auburn man I scance recall Yelled "Tree by tree protect them all! Come Auburn men and women fair And huddle neath the Toomers air! And fight once more for Auburn high! And 'Tree By Tree' will be our cry!"
