NFL fans will get an early look at the future of their favorite franchises as the NFL Draft begins Saturday, April 25 at 2 p.m. on ESPN. Former Auburn standouts Quentin Groves, DE; Patrick Lee, CB and Pat Sims, DT have been projected as first day picks.

1. Dolphins - Chris Long, DE, Virginia
Great motor and a game-changer. A good pedigree (Howie Long’s son) doesn’t hurt.
2. Rams - Jake Long, OT, Michigan
The Rams need to shore up their O-Line in a bad way, Long is a big step in the right direction.
3. Falcons - Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College;

TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays have released former Auburn Tiger Frank Thomas. The team said the deal with the 19-year veteran  was “of mutual consent.” Thomas, now a designated hitter, has been slumping lately.

CINCINNATI — Bengals linebacker Odell Turman has been reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Thurman missed the 2006 and 2007 season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

1. Avoid sun exposure; try to apply sunscreen everyday.
2. Drink plenty of water.
3. Don’t over wash your face. Over washing can cause the skin to produce excess oils and contribute to future breakouts.
4. Make sure the word “noncomedogenic” is on all of your face cleansers, moisturizers and make-up.
5. Wash your face in the morning and at night with warm water and a cleanser.
6. Don’t touch your face to keep dirt, oil, bacteria from your hands at bay.
7. Exfoliate once a week.
8. Be sure to moisturize after washing face.
9. Don’t forget your skin regimen, especially during the stress of finals, because psychological stress is proven to be linked to breakouts.
10. Wash your pillowcases once a week.

Auburn President Jay Gogue will be formally installed as Auburn’s 18th president today during a 30-minute ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. on Cater Lawn. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be tomorrow at 9 a.m. The installation will stream live on the Internet at www.auburn.edu/installation.

April 16, Wal-Mart- Theft reported. Three bags full of various items valued at $174 were reported stolen.

April 16, Mary Lane- Theft reported. One pair of Citizen jeans, one pair of Seven jeans, one pair of Hot Topic jeans, one B.B. dress, one flat hair iron, seven CDs and one yellow jacket were reported stolen.

April 16, Sears- Theft reported. Two tank tops and two pairs of shorts were reported stolen.

BIRMINGHAM — Convicted serial killer Daniel Siebert, 53, died Tuesday from pancreatic cancer while on Alabama’s death row. Siebert was sentenced to death separately for the murders of five people, including the Feb. 19, 1986 murder of his girlfriend Sherri Weathers, 24, and her two sons, ages 4 and 5. 

GREENVILLE — Former Gov. Fob James’ son Tim James is planning to run again in 2010 for governor, a position his father held for two terms. Tim James lost the Republican nomination to Gov. Bob Riley in 2002, four years after his father’s second term ended.

April 9, Exxon on East University Drive- Gasoline theft reported. Ten gallons of gas valued at $30 were reported stolen.

April 9, Big Cat- Gasoline theft reported. Fifteen gallons of gas valued at $54 were reported stolen.

April 9, Broun Residence Hall- Theft reported. One purple mountain bike valued at $100 was reported stolen.

Community MuralKara Leigh Pritchard: enior in social work, adds paint to the mural Saturday.

A city-wide mural painting was held in downtown Auburn this weekend. The mural, designed by Auburn student Callie Cooper, represents dreams coming true. The mural is painted on the side of The Bike Shop facing the Baptist Campus Ministries building on South College Street.
