"I'm content to be here," Fisher told Orlando Sentinel sports columnist Mike Bianchi. "If they continue to have me, I'm very happy to be here."
Fisher was one of a handful of candidates supposedly interested in resurrecting an Auburn football program that went winless in the SEC this season and finished with a 3-9 overall record.
Also on the list are former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino, Arkansas State head coach and former Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, and Louisville head coach Charlie Strong among others.
Fisher, however, told Biachi Auburn's eventual head coach proabably won't be any one of those purported candidates.
"The guys that get rumored, if you go back and think about it, they're the guys that never get the job," Fisher said. "Seriously. They're the guys where they got to start something on a blog to get some hits."
