Auburn football commit Richard Jibunor, 18, from Athens, Georgia, is facing a charge of driving under the influence after being arrested early Sunday morning.
Jibunor was booked in the Athens-Clarke County jail at 4:38 a.m. EST. He was released on a $2,000 bond at 7:18 a.m. local time.
He also faces a charge of failing to maintain lane and improper driving.
The Athens native committed to Auburn on Thanyksgiving Day, choosing the Tigers over Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.
The four-star prospect did not sign a national letter-of-intent Dec. 20 on the early signing day. However, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said he expected Jibunor to maintain his commitment to the Tigers.
Malzahn has not made a statement regarding Jiburnor’s arrest.
Auburn will kick off in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Monday at 11:30 a.m. Central Time against undefeated UCF.
