The City of Auburn is delaying municipal court hearings until April 16 by order of the Alabama Supreme Court, according to a news release from the City.

The state order was made in response to recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in limiting the spread of COVID-19, a new strain of coronavirus.

All in-court proceedings during this period will be suspended, but the order allows for some exceptions. Bond hearings, police emergencies and any event deemed an emergency by Auburn Municipal Court Judge Jim McLaughlin will continue, the release said.

Rescheduled court dates may be found at https://www.auburnalabama.org/court, and the City said it will mail updated court notices to individuals' last known addresses.

The City is asking anyone who needs to pay a traffic citation, parking ticket or other payments to do so online at https://www.auburnalabama.org/court/pay-ticket/ or by using certified funds through the Auburn Municipal Court's drop box in its parking lot.
