Men’s golf advances to match play at NCAA Championships

The Auburn men’s golf team avoided elimination early Monday morning, June 1, at the NCAA Championship in Bradenton, Florida. The Tigers were forced to finish the third round of the tournament on Monday morning after play was suspended Sunday, May 31, because of inclement weather. Freshman Ben Schlottman shot even par for the second consecutive day to lead the Tigers in the last round of stroke play. Half of the 30 teams in the field were cut after three rounds of stroke play at The Concession Golf Club. After the first three rounds, Auburn was tied for 12th, which earned the Tigers a spot in the final round of stroke play. The fourth round will start Monday, when Auburn tees off at 9 am CST on the 10th hole. If the Tigers finish in the top eight teams after the final round of play, they will advance to the match play portion of the tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 2-3.
