Tina Deese, coach of Auburn's softball team from 1997-2013, accepted the head coaching job at Opelika High School on Wednesday, May 20.
Deese will take over an Opelika team that finished 20-20 last year. The Bulldogs were eliminated from the playoffs in the Class 6A, Area 4 tournament.
She will replace Stephanie Brown, who resigned last month after coaching Opelika for 16 seasons. Deese spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Beauregard High School.
